This entire DeepLEADTM Growth Series has been focused on the person of the leader themself, since everything rises and falls on them. While we would’ve immediately loved to dive deeper into Emotional Intelligence right after the lesson on Self-Awareness (Module 3), we reserved it for the end of Growth modules to be a bridge between the final lesson on the Person of the leader and the first in the next course which places the spotlight on the People being led. So far, the leader hasn’t even interfaced with another human yet so Emotional Intelligence is a great bridge to the Success Series. Even here, we shall restrict ourselves to the first half of Emotional Intelligence—about the leader’s emotional awareness and self-management—while the other half about the Led’s emotions and managing that will be reserved for the next course. In Executive Leadership, IQ gets you in the door but it is EQ that really gives you what it takes to play the game!
In this module 8 (of 8) of the DeepLEAD Growth Series, Emotional Intelligence 1, you will:
- Offered a timely general reminder of the prime place of self-awareness in leadership,
- Lay a comprehensive foundation of Emotional Intelligence—from definitions through what it’s not to why it’s vital,
- Be left with a deep impression about the non-negotiable place of Emotional Intelligence in leadership,
- Dive deep into the ‘self’ aspect of Emotional Intelligence (‘others’ portion is reserved for the next course in the series) and
- Be provided with a buffet of practical exercises to steadily grow in Emotional Intelligence over time.
Who this course is for?
With video demonstrations to support the lectures you’ll quickly learn to handle apparently impossible situations where people just won’t co-operate: bosses, co-workers, customers, patients or members of the public who act in unpleasant, unpredictable ways. And it isn’t limited to the workplace; if you ever find yourself struggling in your personal relationships there’s help here too. This course tells you how to identify seven common difficult characters, recognise clues to the patterns in their behaviour, and most importantly, how to understand how to prepare yourself, so that you become more effective more often in your relationships.
